Metropole Orkest Big Band & China Moses
AN EXTRA DOSIS SOUL AND R&B FOR OUR BIGBAND
China Moses, zang
Miho Hazama, dirigent
The Metropole Orkest Big Band will once again go on tour without strings. The big band will be accompanied by singer China Moses. China provides an extra dose of soul and R&B and promises to bring the audience into her world: “I am a storyteller. People can expect a complete palette of emotions and grooves, from swing to funk, from subtle melancholy ballads to explosive laughter.”
As a daughter of Dee Dee Bridgewater, jazz and R&B were a natural part of China’s upbringing. China: “I think it’s important to celebrate heritage. The greatness, the unique and the lessons you can learn from heroines like Dinah Washington and Nina Simone.” It is no surprise that she, with lots of love, gives a twist to wonderful timeless songs from the past. At the same time she proves herself to be a strong songwriter as evidenced by her album ‘Nightintales’ released last year.
With the Metropole Orkest Big Band, China will play songs from her album ‘Nightintales’ and new material that hasn’t been previously recorded.
The concert in Schouwburg De Meerse is part of the Take Off Music Festival.
