Featuring Michael Mayo, Kandace Springs & Jules Buckley

Roberta Flack changed the musical landscape by seamlessly fusing classical finesse, jazz, gospel, and soul into a recognizable and intimate sound. She started as a classically trained pianist and emerged in the early 1970s as a global star with unforgettable classics such as The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, Killing Me Softly With His Song, and Feel Like Makin’ Love.

Flack made history as the very first solo artist to win the highest Grammy distinction, Record of the Year, two years in a row. In addition to her iconic solo work, she made waves with emotionally charged duets with legend Donny Hathaway (such as Where Is The Love and The Closer I Get To You). Her ability to tell stories with unmatched control, elegance, and emotional depth makes her musical legacy timeless to this day.

During this special evening, her classics come alive in rich, symphonic arrangements performed by the Metropole Orkest. To do justice to her body of work, the orchestra shares the stage with two of the most promising voices in contemporary soul and jazz: Kandace Springs and Michael Mayo.

Kandace Springs

With her warm vocal timbre and virtuoso piano playing, American singer and pianist Kandace Springs is one of the most acclaimed talents in the contemporary jazz and soul world. She was discovered by none other than Prince, who invited her to perform with him at Paisley Park. With her highly praised albums on the legendary Blue Note label, she delivers a contemporary ode to classic soul and jazz traditions.

Michael Mayo

Michael Mayo is a jazz vocalist and composer known for his stunning range, pitch-perfect intonation, and innovative use of vocal harmonies and loops. Raised in a musical family and trained at the renowned Thelonious Monk Institute, Mayo blends traditional jazz with modern elements. He is regarded by critics and fellow musicians alike as one of the most unique and adventurous vocal talents of his generation.
