Conducted by Sam Gale

Madison Cunninghams unique blend of folk, americana, indie rock and singer-songwriter intertwines seamlessly with the orchestral sound of the Metropole Orkest. In this special collaboration, the Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter presents her repertoire alongside the orchestra for the first time, featuring specially commissioned arrangements that offer a fresh context for her inventive guitar playing, layered compositions, and poetic lyrics.

Cunningham is widely regarded as one of the most distinctive songwriters of her generation. Following her Grammy-winning album Revealer, she released her third album, Ace, in 2025, which she co-produced herself. Her music moves effortlessly across genres, combining sophistication with an adventurous approach to songwriting.

The orchestral arrangements reveal her songs from a new perspective. Intimate pieces retain their closeness and nuance, while the Metropole Orkest adds new colours, contrasts, and dynamic depth. The result is a concert that fully showcases the subtlety and versatility of Cunningham’s music.

Madison Cunningham
Madison Cunningham began playing guitar at the age of seven and performed from an early age alongside her four siblings in church. With albums such as Who Are You Now, Revealer, and Ace, she has established herself as one of the most acclaimed voices in contemporary folk and americana. She has also collaborated with artists including Lucy Dacus, Remi Wolf, Mumford & Sons, and Andrew Bird. Her inventive songwriting and exceptional guitar playing have earned her international recognition and a Grammy Award.

Sam Gale
Sam Gale is an arranger, conductor, and producer who specializes in bringing artists and orchestras together. He has created arrangements for artists such as Teddy Swims, Olivia Dean, St. Vincent, Snarky Puppy, and Brandi Carlile, as well as for the Metropole Orkest in the Netherlands and the BBC Symphony and Concert Orchestras.

Gale has a particular passion for music in which lyrics take centre stage and for finding ways to enhance the story and message of a song through orchestral arrangement. Through his work with a wide range of artists, he has become ever more convinced that every artist has a unique songwriting voice—and that the arranger’s role is to complement and support that voice as effectively as possible
