Conducted by Jules Buckley

In 2026, the legendary trumpeter Miles Davis would have turned 100. To honor this milestone, the Metropole Orkestpresents a tribute to two of his most influential albums: Tutu and Amandla. These groundbreaking records fused jazz, funk, R&B, pop, and rock, introducing Miles’s sound to a new generation.

The orchestra is joined by Marcus Miller, bassist, producer, and composer of Tutu and Amandla, and John Beasley, pianist, arranger, and former member of Davis’s band. Miller worked closely with Davis in the 1980s, shaping an innovative sound through his compositions and production. Beasley brings his experience, creative power, and award-winning arrangements to this reinterpretation.

This concert is not a replica of the original albums, but a new interpretation in the spirit of Miles Davis: layered and dynamic. Together with the genre-transcending sound of the Metropole Orkest, these top artists create an immersive experience for lovers of jazz, funk, soul, and everything in between.

Marcus Miller
Bassist, composer, and producer, known for his work with Miles Davis and many other top artists such as Luther Vandross and David Sanborn. Miller has won multiple Grammy Awards and is celebrated worldwide for his virtuosity, innovative productions, and his ability to seamlessly blend jazz, funk, R&B, and pop.

John Beasley
Pianist, arranger, and bandleader who has worked not only with Miles Davis but also with artists such as Herbie Hancock, Chaka Khan, and Esperanza Spalding. Beasley is known for his creative arrangements, his ability to combine jazz tradition with modern influences, and his award-winning project MONK’estra, with which he brought Thelonious Monk’s music back to life.
