Conducted by Jules Buckley

During the 50th edition of the North Sea Jazz Festival, Snarky Puppy & the Metropole Orkest bring their new project Somni to life: a concert in which the band’s signature grooves merge with the orchestral, film‑like arrangements of the orchestra, arranged and conducted by Jules Buckley. Eleven years after Sylva, their Grammy‑winning collaboration finally gets a follow‑up.

The audience experiences a rhythmic and visually immersive performance in which jazz, classical music, funk, and world music blend seamlessly. From intimate passages to exuberant orchestral explosions: the combination of Snarky Puppy’s virtuosic grooves with Buckley’s arrangements creates a new, powerful interpretation of the music by bandleader Michael League.

Snarky Puppy
Snarky Puppy is a Grammy‑winning ensemble led by bassist and composer Michael League. The band has won five Grammy Awards, including those for Sylva (with the Metropole Orkest), Culcha Vulcha, Live at the Royal Albert Hall, and Empire Central, and previously received a Grammy for Best R&B Performance for Something with Lalah Hathaway. Their genre‑defying sound, ranging from jazz and funk to world music, continues to impress audiences and critics worldwide.
