Especially for the fourth edition of the BRIDGE Guitar Festival Eindhoven, Al Di Meola will come to Muziekgebouw Eindhoven for an exclusive concert with the Metropole Orkest conducted by Vince Mendoza.
Al Di Meola rose to international prominence in the 1970s as a member of the jazz-fusion group Return to Forever, led by Chick Corea, and has since been regarded as one of the most influential guitarists of recent decades. In the early 1980s he shifted his focus from electric to acoustic guitar and formed a legendary supertrio with John McLaughlin and Paco de Lucía. While Di Meola became widely known for his acoustic collaborations, he continued to perform on both electric and acoustic guitar. Friday Night in San Francisco (1981) is considered by many to be the most influential acoustic guitar album of all time.
His work moves between jazz, rock, fusion and Latin music and is renowned for its complex rhythms and strong compositions. After three successful BRIDGE collaborations with Dweezil Zappa, Steve Vai and Mark Lettieri, we are preparing for a unique evening in which Di Meola’s virtuosity is enhanced by the incomparable sound of the Metropole Orkest.
