Jacob Collier, Metropole Orkest and Jules Buckley are back! On Sunday 13 July, the trio will meet at the North Sea Jazz Festival, where Jacob is Artist in Residence this year.
The collaboration between Jacob, Metropole Orkest and Jules goes way back. We first met during the tribute to Quincy Jones at the BBC Proms in 2016. Collier impressed with a cover of Human Nature and a beautiful orchestral version of his own composition In The Real Early Morning. The collaboration proved so successful that it was continued at the North Sea Jazz Festival, in the Royal Albert Hall, at Musikfest Bremen and in Het Concertgebouw. Next to this, we released Djesse Vol. 1 together and worked together on a number of tracks for Jacob's latest album Djesse Vol. 4. Jacob Collier British singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer Jacob Collier is seen by the public, critics and fellow musicians as one of the most talented young artists of today. He comes from a musical family and was brought up with music: at home he sang Bach chorales ‘for fun’ with the whole family. In 2013, his videos went viral on YouTube and Collier caught the attention of Quincy Jones, who offered him a management contract. He won his first two Grammys with songs from his debut album In My Room and then started working on Djesse, a four-part, 50-song project with more than two dozen artists and ensembles. The final part, Djesse Vol. 4, was released in 2024. With his music, which contains elements from orchestral composition to jazz, folk, R&B, rap and pop, the immensely talented Collier turns every performance into an extraordinary spectacle.
