For the ninth year in a row, the Metropole Orkest and Melkweg are joining forces to open the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). This year, they’re teaming up with DJ DBN Gogo for a special tribute to Amapiano, the wildly popular music genre from South Africa. DBN Gogo, whose real name is Mandisa Radebe, is a South African DJ and producer who has quickly become a major name in the music scene. With her energetic performances and surprising DJ sets, she captivates audiences all over the world. Amapiano, which emerged in 2016, is a captivating blend of deep house, jazz, kwaito, and lounge music, characterized by its catchy piano melodies. DBN Gogo excels at blending various styles within the Amapiano genre. With her infectious energy and powerful stage presence, she breaks boundaries and inspires a new generation of female artists. The ADE concert at Melkweg has become a recurring and unmissable highlight in the Amsterdam Dance Event’s programming. Following successful past collaborations with Henrik Schwarz (2016), Jameszoo (2017), Colin Benders (2018), SOHN (2019), Weval (2021), Suzanne Ciani (2022), Tinlicker (2023), and 50 Years of Dilla (2024), the Metropole Orkest is once again taking on the challenge of exploring a different spectrum of electronic music.
