Metropole according to Kaandorp

On tour with Brigitte Kaandorp

Metropole Orkest

Jules Buckley, dirigent

Brigitte Kaandorp, cabaretière

Jos Thie, regisseur

What happens when a versatile orchestra such as the Metropole Orkest, cooperates with the chaotic comedian Brigitte Kaandorp? Do we even get to play? Or will charming Jules Buckley and music event director Jos Thie be able to make things run smoothly?

During this show, Brigitte presents the orchestra in a unique way. She tells you things you didn’t know about the orchestra members and brings you up to speed about their unexpected talents. Meanwhile, she takes you on a musical journey through the orchestra’s extensive repertoire.

Metropole Orkest: From film music such as ‘Turks Fruit’ to Ella Fitzgerald and from singer Bono to the well known NOS Studio Sport radio tune. The Grammy Award winning orchestra is unique in its kind and consists of a big band, a full symphonic string section and a rhythm section. Therefore the orchestra is very versatile and able to play all types of genres for over 70 years now.

Brigitte Kaandorp: Besides being a comedian who has delivered some classic shows, she is well known for her beloved and well-trained voice. Without a doubt, she can easily sing several genres: a mightily musical song, a classical aria or a tearjerker. It’s no problem for Brigitte Kaandorp.

Jules Buckley: He’s been chief conductor for the Metropole Orkest since the summer of 2013. A young, talented Englishman who has achieved many highlights with the orchestra (and is very attractive according to Brigitte). Besides being a conductor, he’s also an arranger and composer. He likes to find musical boundaries in projects, which is demonstrated by his cooperations with Basement Jaxx, Caro Emerald and Arctic Monkeys.

It promises to be a very special tour. Don’t miss it!
