Metropole Orkest and chief conductor Jules Buckley extend their cooperation until mid 2020. This means both parties continue their successful collaboration.

Jan Geert Vierkant, manager director Metropole Orkest: “Jules Buckley started as chief conductor of Metropole Orkest in 2013, the year in which the orchestra became independent. Working together turned out to be a great success. He has strengthened the artistic profiling, quality and innovative nature of Metropole Orkest. He also contributes to the versatility in programming. Examples are the Grammy (2016) with Snarky Puppy for ‘best contemporary album’ on one hand, and the big theatre show together with Kaandorp on the other hand. Because the subsidy of Metropole Orkest has been halved, all of those successes are positively remarkable. That’s why we are very happy with the extend of this collaboration.”

Jules Buckley, chief conductor Metropole Orkest: “No other orchestra is so connected to everything that is happening right now in the music industry. This is very unique in the worldwide musical landscape. Over the past few years, we have gained national and international attention by creating concepts that are innovative and groundbreaking. This led to recurring invitations by leading festivals and projects like Amsterdam Dance Event, BBC Proms, Musikfest Bremen, North Sea Jazz  and Holland Festival. From now on we are going to expand the original, innovative and artistically high-quality productions. I’m looking forward to it!”
