Tom Cohen: “Gnawa is an ancient genre of music that is a lot more than just entertainment. It is a musical ceremony, performed by spiritual leaders in which they interact with the spirits of their tribe and use the hypnotizing music to get into a state of trance in which they cleanse their souls. As a musician who is fascinated by groove I found myself mesmorized by the idea that a musical genre can be both unbelievably complex with its polyrythmic compositions, and yet groovy to the point were you just can’t stop yourself from dancing- at the same time.”
“As I was lucky to have worked with all three soloists in the past on different occasions and countries, I know what amazing performers and brilliant musicians Karim, Omri and Mehdi are.
