On June 26, With Every Breath I Take will be released, the new album by American singer and composer Cécile McLorin Salvant, recorded with the Metropole Orkest conducted by chief conductor Jules Buckley. For Salvant, multiple Grammy Award winner and widely praised for her expressive, narrative vocal style, this project represents a long-cherished ambition: a large-scale orchestral recording in which she brings her personal selection of songs to life. The arrangements by Darcy James Argue give her interpretations a rich, cinematic dimension, with the Metropole Orkest playing a central and defining role.
Salvant is known for her distinctive approach to repertoire, blending jazz tradition with elements of theatre and storytelling. That signature comes fully into its own on this album. In collaborating with the Metropole Orkest, she builds on earlier joint projects, but here that artistic connection reaches a new depth and scale. The result is an album in which voice and orchestra are in constant dialogue.
As a first preview, the title track has now been released along with a video offering a behind-the-scenes look at the recording sessions in Studio 1 in Hilversum. The footage shows Salvant and the Metropole Orkest working together on the track and capturing their musical interplay, offering a promising first glimpse of this new release.
