Grammy-Winning collaboration Snarky Puppy & Metropole Orkest release new album Somni
On November 21 2025, Metropole Orkest, conducted by chief conductor Jules Buckley, and Snarky Puppy will release the ambitious new album Somni via GroundUP Music. After their Grammy Award-winning collaboration Sylva, the band and the orchestra are joining forces once again. The first single, Waves Upon Waves, will be released on Friday, September 5 at 10:00 AM on all streaming platforms. The video premiere will take place simultaneously on YouTube.
Somni, which means ‘dream’ in Catalan, marks the second live recording between the band and the orchestra. While Sylva earned worldwide acclaim and a Grammy in 2015, Somni takes things a step further. The album was recorded in January 2025 during six groundbreaking recording sessions spread across three evenings in Utrecht. The audience, seated among the orchestra, witnessed the premiere of brand-new, original music written by bandleader Michael League.
On Somni, Snarky Puppy’s complex and groovy sound once again blends seamlessly with the rich, cinematic orchestration of the Metropole Orkest. Michael League describes Somni as “the biggest and most ambitious project we have undertaken in our 21-year career.”
